Contrary to curating and making music as social manifestations, Blokdijk practices painting exclusively alone. In the mid-eighties, when Blokdijk started painting, he was strongly influenced by Antonin Artaud, the Viennese Actionists and Art Brut/Outsider Art, and he still is.
